Our Objectives
Ravensmead is a low-income neighbourhood situated in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.
Children in Ravensmead face considerable obstacles in accessing educational support and extracurricular programs. A significant number of parents possess limited literacy skills, which hinders their ability to assist their children with school assignments. Furthermore, financial constraints within the community prevent parents from affording supplementary educational resources or lessons.
The majority of children do not attend preschool prior to enrolling in Grade R, resulting in inadequate developmental stimulation and a deficiency in both gross and fine motor skill development. Consequently, these children commence their formal education with notable skills deficits.
Ravensmead Learning Centre NPC was established in January 2024 to alleviate these problems.
Our mission is
to assist pre-school and primary school learners in Ravensmead
to develop a love for learning and
to achieve their full academic potential
through focused, individual academic support.
To provide early childhood development services to preschool-aged children.
To deliver educational programs, academic support, and tutoring to primary school children.
To alleviate poverty by providing meals to children attending our educational sessions.
Our Services
All services are provided to the community free of charge.
Small group class in the mornings for children aged four and five.
One-on-one tutoring for Grade R to Grade 3 learners.
Small group tutoring for Grade 4 to Grade 7 learners.
We provide our learners with a light meal, ensuring they have the energy to engage fully in the learning process.
